Important
This ImageTracker plugin is currently not interoperable with our other trackers. Support for combining multiple AR trackers in the same experience is planned for future updates.
Combining multiple trackers is possible experimentally. This prototype demonstrates using Image Tracker together with World Tracker to create extended tracking experiences.

Why WebAR?
WebAR is best suited for lightweight, accessible, and shareable AR experiences.
Users can launch your experience instantly by opening a link or scanning a QR code. No app download required.
No Hosting Fees
Unlike many WebAR platforms that require monthly subscriptions, per-view fees, or per-app-id pricing, you can host your own experiences and avoid recurring platform costs.
White-label
Host your WebAR experiences like any other Unity WebGL build.
Upload to your own domain or website — the entire technology stack is yours.
No Markers Required
Uses natural feature tracking, allowing you to detect and track any image with sufficient visual detail.
Fast and Accurate Tracking
Built for high-quality image tracking in the browser. Performance is close to leading industry image-tracking solutions while running entirely through WebGL.
Packed with Features
- Supports simultaneous tracking of multiple images.
- Supports Texture Extraction for experiences such as colouring book AR.
- No need to compile image targets using an external website. Image targets can even be compiled during runtime when initializing your webpage.
- Includes demo samples to help you get started quickly.
Post Processing & HDR Support
Create richer WebAR visuals with support for Unity Post Processing and HDR rendering across both Universal Render Pipeline (URP) and Built-In Render Pipeline. See it in action in the Post Processing & HDR demo video.
Use Cases
Create WebAR experiences for:
- Interactive packaging
- Print and brochure AR
- Marketing campaigns
- Educational AR experiences
- Coloring book AR
Summary
This plugin works similarly to other AR image tracking plugins, but is designed specifically for Unity WebGL.
Setting up your AR scene only takes a few minutes (see the demo tutorial).
Supports major desktop and mobile browsers including Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox.
It has also been tested inside built-in browsers from messaging apps such as WeChat, Facebook Messenger, and Viber.
Performance Disclaimer
Performance depends mainly on:
- User device processing capability
- Scene and game complexity
Testing has achieved up to 60 FPS on newer phones and 24–30 FPS on older devices. See the Image Tracker v1.3.0 performance update for improvements in tracking stability, device performance, and multi-image tracking.
